Volkswagen seems to be taking very serious approach to electric vehicles sphere – and we’re not only talking about expensive cars like Porsche Mission E, but also cheap EVs.

All electric VW concepts are being unveiled under the I.D. brand – and there were several of them during last months. One of the first to be presented – as well as the first to hit the market – was the simply-called I.D. hatchback, expected to be released in 2019.

And according the the recent claim made by VW CEO Herbert Diess, the top version of a Golf-sized all-electric 5-door hatchback will cost less than 30,000 EUR – that is about $34,500 at today’s rate. Entry level modifications will be priced about $7,000 less. It means that if the VW’s management forecasts come into reality, Tesla Model 3 will get a serious rival with a much lower price and about 250 miles of range.
