General Motors claimed the method of mass production was used for the first time in producing self-driving vehicles. 130 such Bolts were produced on the same production line as other EVs of that model at the GM’s plant in Michigan, USA.
Despite loud GM statements, technically, Tesla has become a pioneer in this field – those electric cars are already being produced with a full set of equipment to ensure full autonomy in the nearest future. However, neither one nor the other company has yet completed the creation of an absolutely autonomous vehicle.
130 autonomous Bolt’s will add up to the existing fleet, testing the GM’s self-driving technologies. By the way, the concern claims that the production of autonomous cars on the same line with traditional cars makes it possible to meet the same quality standards, which is impossible to achieve with small batch assembly.
