According to Automotive News, FCA (which owns Maserati, Chrysler and Fiat) CEO Sergio Marchionne claimed that each Maserati model will get all-electric or hybrid version by 2022. This measure is inseparable in company’s strategy with its launch scheduled on 2019 – after Maserati finishes its work on two new models.

According to Maserati management, company is considering this step in light of several countries politics, aiming to prohibit cars with internal-combustion engines in a few decades. Possibly, one of the first Maserati electric cars would be Alfieri coupe (that exists only as a concept so far), while the first hybrid powertrain is being prepared for Levante SUV.
