Bosch technology idea is to add electric motors and batteries to the semitrailer’s axles. This will allow to generate electricity while braking and going downhill, instead of simply allowing them to roll freely. The energy stored this way may be used for the truck’s power units.
Bosch says, that powering the refrigerated trailer and electric motors for the acceleration boost on uphills should be the most beneficial advantage of their technology. This is the way for logistics companies to save thousands of liters of diesel fuel.
