Some rumors suggested that British automaker will bring the all-electric version of a luxury SUV Bentayga to the market after the hybrid one, debuted a few weeks ago.

However, those rumors have no ground according to Bentley’s Head of Design Stefan Sielaff interview to Auto Express. His point on first Bentley EV is clear – this should be a coupe-styled vehicle for 4 or 5 passengers, looking both sporty and elegant.

Also, Sielaff claimed that the car won’t be a modification of any existing model. The EV should be a completely new car built from scratch, allowing Bentley to refresh their design language.

Expectedly, the car will be based on the same platform as Porsche Mission E, though the release date is not clear yet. However, it definitely won’t hit the market till 2020, since now British automaker put their efforts into making a hybrid lineup – Bentayga already got such drivetrain and the next one is Continental GT coupe.

Last year Bentley showed the electric convertible concept EXP 12 Speed 6e at the Geneva Motor Show (on the picture). The aim of that car was in collecting the customer’s demand on such car – and since there are several talks about Bentley electric car upcoming, the experiment was successful.
